But don't worry, no birds were harmed in the making of our pasties! We're all about bringing a bit of British banter to your plate, with pasties that are as tasty as they are quirky. Our philosophy? The Cornish Pasty, a right legendary nosh, hails from Cornwall, England dating back to the 13th century. By the18th and 19th centuries, it was the bees knees among Cornish minrs that needed something to eat that was both handy and hearty. The pasty's classic filling of beef, spuds, swedes and onions, all tucked into a sturdy crust was perfect for miners to scoff down without getting their mitts dirty or their grubby fingers in the filling. They'd think nothing of it to chuck the crimps crust away when they were done. Overt time the pastry crust, with the addition of butter, became just as scrumptious as the filling itself and enjoyed in its entirety. This beloved bit of Brit history, now sporting a posh protected status, ensures that the Cornish pasty remains the quintessence of pastry treats

The Crimp - What's all the fuss
So there's a right ol barney over the proper wayt o crimp these deliciuos parcels of joy: Side crimp or top crimp. Legend has it that the side crimp, with its neat curvy edge, is the true Cornish method. Meanwhile the top crimp has its own brigade of defenders. These lot argue that it's easier to make and more visually appealing. But the purists, they're having none of it and you'll hear 'em say "that's not a proper job" faster than they can scoff down a pasty. The Cornish Pasty Association, the boffins who got the Cornish Pasty it's Protected Geographical indication status, only accept the side crimp as authentic. Our 4&20 Pasties are as authentic as they are across the pond, sporting a side crimp. But watch out, we may bring out a few specialty flavors with a top crimp and let you be the judge.
