Proper English tea scones, the quintessential companion to any afternoon tea. Light and buttery, just like Granny made them! Jam and cream not included.
Proper English tea scones, the quintessential companion to any afternoon tea! These scones are the stuff of dreams, golden and slightly crumbly on the outside, with a tender, airy interior that practically melts in your mouth.
These scones are made with the simplest of ingredients, yet the result is nothing short of sublime. Butter, flour, cream, and just a hint of sugar come together in perfect harmony, creating a rich, delicate crumb that’s neither too sweet nor too dense. Whether enjoyed warm from the oven or cooled to room temperature, they’re the perfect base for the ultimate tea-time debate: cream first or jam?
Whichever side you fall on, there’s one thing we can all agree on: these scones are best enjoyed with a pot of freshly brewed tea, preferably poured from a porcelain teapot, and sipped slowly while basking in the late afternoon sun.
How to Serve Proper English Tea Scones
For an authentic English teatime experience, scones should be warmed gently before serving, either in a low oven (around 300°F / 150°C for 5–10 minutes) or sliced and lightly toasted. This brings out their buttery, crumbly texture.
Traditional accompaniments:
- Clotted cream (Devon or Cornish style)
- Good-quality strawberry jam (or raspberry, if you prefer)
How to assemble:
Split the scone in half and top each side with jam and cream. There’s a long-standing debate in the UK about which goes first - jam-first (Cornish style) or cream-first (Devon style) - so feel free to choose your allegiance!
What to serve with:
Proper scones are best enjoyed with a pot of hot black tea, such as Earl Grey or English Breakfast, served with milk and sugar to taste.
Perfect for afternoon tea, brunch, or any time you want to add a touch of British charm to your day.

Still a Cracking Deal Under $150
Not quite hit the $150 mark? No worries! Orders over $60 still come bundled in the same fancy thermal packaging (cooler box, dry ice, ice packs—the lot). Just keep your order above $60, and we’ll do the rest.
Where We Can (and Can’t) Deliver
We’d love to send pasties to everyone, but sadly we can’t deliver to PO Boxes, Alaska, Hawaii, or abroad (internationally).
We ship every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (based on location) so your goodies don’t get stuck somewhere warm over the weekend. If you order between Wednesday and Sunday, we’ll have it on the road first thing Monday. Patience, love - it’ll be worth the wait.
We’ve set the minimum order as low as we can ‘cause we believe your pennies are better spent on delicious food than on shipping or packaging fees. That $60 mark lets us pack orders smarter, keeping your pasties fresh and saving you some $$ on the extras.
Go Big, Save More
Cross the $150 line and we’ll cover the shipping as a proper thank you. It’s our nod to you for helping us keep things running smoothly and making the most of your order.
